Dimethylacetamide (DMAC) Solvent Has Good Solubility
Dimethylacetamide (DMAC) is a strongly polar aprotic solvent that can dissolve a variety of compounds. It is completely miscible with water, ethers, ketones, esters, etc. It features high thermal stability, low hydrolysis tendency, low corrosivity, and low toxicity.
It has good solubility for various resins, especially polyurethane resins and polyimide resins. It can be used as a solvent for heat-resistant synthetic fibers, plastic films, coatings, pharmaceuticals, and polyacrylonitrile spinning.
As a low-toxicity, high-boiling-point, and highly polar aprotic solvent and chemical intermediate, DMAC is widely used in fields such as synthetic materials, pharmaceuticals, pesticides, chemical fibers, petroleum processing, and pigments.
DMAC Solvent Has Good Solubility
DMAC has good solubility for various inorganic substances. It can be miscible with water, ethers, esters, ketones, and aromatic compounds. It can dissolve unsaturated aliphatic hydrocarbons but has difficulty dissolving saturated aliphatic hydrocarbons. It can dissolve acrylonitrile copolymers, vinyl resins, cellulose derivatives, polystyrene resins, linear polyester resins, etc.
Characteristics of DMAC Solvent
- Appearance: Colorless and transparent liquid.
- Solubility: Can be mixed with water, alcohols, ethers, and other solvents.
- Polarity & Stability: Polar solvent with good thermal stability; does not decompose even at its boiling point.
- Purification: Can be purified by distillation.
- Aqueous Stability: Stable in aqueous solution; hydrolysis may increase in the presence of acids or alkalis.
- Boiling Point Advantage: Introduction of an ethyl group raises its boiling point >10°C higher than dimethylformamide (DMF, boiling point 153°C), providing better thermal and chemical stability.
- Catalytic Properties: Acts as an excellent catalyst in synthesis, accelerating reactions such as cyclization, halogenation, acylation, alkylation, and dehydrogenation.
- Efficiency: Can improve the yield of main products in chemical synthesis.
