Cyclohexanone (CAS 108-94-1) is a colorless to pale yellow liquid with a characteristic mint-like odor. Its chemical formula is C₆H₁₀O, and its molecular weight is 98.15 g/mol. Cyclohexanone has a melting point of -26°C, a boiling point of 155.6°C, and a density of approximately 0.947 g/cm³. It is slightly soluble in water but fully miscible with most organic solvents, such as ethanol, diethyl ether, and benzene.

 

Cyclohexanone Uses

Cyclohexanone (CYC) is an important chemical raw material and a key intermediate for the production of nylon, caprolactam, and adipic acid.

It is widely used as an industrial solvent in paints and coatings. It is also an excellent solvent for organophosphorus pesticides and other agrochemicals, and is used as a solvent for dyes in various industrial formulations.

Cyclohexanone (CYC) is used as a solvent for grease, wax, and rubber, and also functions as a homogenizing agent in dyeing processes and in silk finishing applications.

It is applied as a degreasing agent for metal polishing and in wood surface coating processes.
