What is Cryolite (CAS:15096-52-3)?
Cryolite,synthetic powder (Na3AlF6) is used in aluminium-metallurgy, for the production of abrasives, enamel, glazing frits and glass, soldering agents, welding agents, blasting and pyrotechnics, and for metal surface treatment.
Cryolite is also known as sodium hexafluoroaluminate or sodium aluminum fluoride. Its molecular formula is Na3AlF6. It is a small white crystal, odorless, and has a greater solubility than natural cryolite.
Cryolite is mainly used as flux for aluminum electrolysis, wear-resistant filler for rubber and grinding wheels, enamel opalizer, glass sunscreen and metal flux, and pesticide for crops.
