INITIAL DOSING FOR WATER STABILIZATION
Begin by adjusting the total alkalinity of your pool water to a range between 80–120 ppm, using an alkalinity test kit in combination with a pH stabilizer (Stable pH). Always maintain a pH level between 7.2 and 7.6 for optimal effectiveness of your sanitizer.
As part of the initial treatment, add 2.5 grams of trichloroisocyanuric acid per cubic meter of water daily, preferably at dusk. This compound, a commonly used TCCA chemical, offers long-lasting chlorine release and excellent disinfection properties. For best results, pre-dissolve the product in a clean plastic container with water, then distribute the solution evenly across the pool surface.
Measure free residual chlorine levels the following morning. Adjust the dosage of TCCA chlorine as needed to maintain a range of 1.0–3.0 ppm. Within 3 to 4 weeks, chlorine levels at dawn should stabilize at 1.0 ppm, indicating that the water is conditioned. At this point, you may reduce the application to 2 grams per cubic meter, transitioning to the routine treatment stage.
Note: If your water is prone to frequent pH shifts, use Stable pH as advised in the alkalinity test kit. This helps prevent imbalances and optimizes the performance of TCCA chlorine tablets, reducing unnecessary chemical usage.
Check total alkalinity weekly and make adjustments if needed. Pools with heating systems require closer monitoring to ensure the free chlorine remains in the 2.0–3.0 ppm range.
ROUTINE MAINTENANCE DOSAGE
Maintain water alkalinity within 80–120 ppm, again using an alkalinity test kit and Stable pH. Add 0.5 to 1.5 grams of trichloroisocyanuric acid tablets per cubic meter daily. Pre-dissolve the tablets in clean water and spread them across the pool. Wait 10 minutes before swimming.
Recheck chlorine levels the next day. Adjust your dosage of TCCA chlorine tablets accordingly to maintain 1.0–3.0 ppm free chlorine.
SHOCK TREATMENT
If the pool has gone untreated for a long period, or if the water appears cloudy, colored, or emits a bad odor, it is recommended to conduct a shock chlorination. First, ensure alkalinity is in the proper range (80–120 ppm), then apply 10 grams of TCCA chemical per cubic meter to rapidly restore hygiene and clarity.
