Formamide (CAS 75-12-7 ) is an amide derived from formic acid, with the molecular formula HCONH2. It is a colorless liquid, miscible with water, and has a smell similar to that of ammonia.
Formamide Solvent is mainly used in the production of sulfonamide Chemicalbook drugs, the synthesis of vitamins and as a softener for paper and fibers. Pure formamide can dissolve many ionic compounds that are insoluble in water, and thus is also used as a solvent.
