Like other fibrates,it reduces both lowdensity lipoprotein (LDL) and very low density lipoprotein (VLDL) levels,as well as increasing highdensity lipoprotein (HDL) levels and reducing triglycerides level. It is used alone or along with statins in the treatment of hypercholesterolemia and hypertriglyceridemia.
