Can I use DMSO(Dimethyl sulfoxide) instead of DMF(N,N-Dimethylformamide)?

DMF, or N,N-dimethylformamide, is a solvent. DMSO, dimethyl sulfoxide, is also a solvent. First, their molecular formulas and structural formulas differ. Moreover, their respective properties are distinct. Both DMF and DMSO are important dipolar non-protonic solvents that promote the progression of Sn2 reactions. DMSO is miscible with water in any proportion and is commonly known as a universal solvent. DMF also exhibits considerable solubility in water. As reaction solvents, both are difficult to remove by vacuum distillation, but small amounts can be washed away with water.
