Paraformaldehyde is a white combustible crystalline powder with a formaldehyde odor. Melting point 121～123℃. Flashpoint 71.1℃. Autoignition point 300℃. Slowly soluble in cold water, dissolves faster in hot water. Formaldehyde is released in aqueous solution. 0.24g/lOOcm3 H2 0 solubility in water at 20°C. Insoluble in ethanol, and ether. Soluble in caustic soda, potassium solution.
