Magnesium Carbonate, Mg Carbonate MgCO3is a white monoclinic crystalline or amorphous powder, non-toxic, odorless, insoluble in water. The relative density is 2.16, slightly soluble in water. Aqueous solution is alkalescence. Solubility in water is 0.02% (15 degrees). Soluble in acid and ammonium salt solution, release CO2 gas when reacting with dilute acid, produce water, carbon dioxide and magnesium oxide when heating over 300 degrees.
