Properties:
Triethylamine is a colourless volatile liquid with a strong ammonia odour, flammable. Slightly soluble in water, soluble in most organic solvents such as ethanol and ether. Explosion limit in air is 1.2% to 8.0%. Alkaline. Its vapour and air to form explosive mixtures, open flame, high heat can cause combustion and explosion. It can react strongly with oxidising agents.

Uses:

• Triethylamine is often used as a catalyst, playing the role of catalyst or promoter in chemical synthesis, commonly used in amino acid synthesis, acetylene polymerisation, fluorescent dye synthesis and other fields.
