Glacial acetic acid( food grade) is colourless transparent liquid, solidifies into ice-like crystals at low temperature. It has irritating odour. Miscible with water, ethanol, ether and carbon tetrachloride and other organic solvents, insoluble in carbon disulfide. Flammable, corrosive, strong irritation, can cause human burns. Flammable, its vapour and air can form explosive mixtures, can cause combustion and explosion when exposed to open flame and high heat. In contact with chromic acid, sodium peroxide, nitric acid or other oxidants, there is a danger of explosion.
