Hydroxyurea CAS 127-07-1 is a ribonucleotide reductase inhibitor, which is now used as a chemotherapy drug for the treatment of melanoma, head and neck tumors and other cancers.
Hydroxyurea has been used in clinical practice since it was synthesized in 1869 as a major anti-tumor and antiviral drug. However, due to its simple chemical structure and strong hydrophilicity, Hydroxyurea has low specific affinity with target proteins and rapid metabolism, which limits its further clinical application.
