Guanidine Carbonate is a white crystalline powder. Melting point 1 98°C (partial decomposition). Relative density 1.25. pH of 4% aqueous solution is 11.2 at 25°C. Solubility in lOOg of the following solutions at 20°C, 42g/lOOg water, 0.55g/lOOg methanol. Almost insoluble in acetone, benzene and ether. Its aqueous solution is slowly hydrolyzed above 0℃, releasing ammonia and generating urea.

Guanidine Carbonate is raw material for organic synthesis and analytical reagent. It is used as pH adjusting agent, antioxidant, resin stabilizer and guanidine soap of amino resin, also used as cement thin slurry agent and additive of surfactant. In synthetic detergents, Guanidine Carbonate is used as moisture-resistant agent and synergist. In zinc, cadmium, manganese weight determination, used as a precipitant, also used in the separation of magnesium in alkali metals.
