Properties

Chlorocresol is white or off-white crystalline powder or lumpy crystals; it has the peculiar odor of phenol; the color gradually becomes darker when exposed to light or in air.

It is very soluble in ethanol, soluble in ether, petroleum ether, slightly soluble in water; soluble in alkaline solution.
