Buffering characteristics:
Tris is a weak base, and its pKa is 8.1 at 25ºC. According to buffering theory, the effective buffering range of Tris buffer is between pH 7.0 and 9.2.
Hydrochloric acid is generally added to adjust the pH value to the desired value to obtain the pH buffer. But at the same time, attention should be paid to the influence of temperature on the pKa of Tris.

Chemical properties of Tris Base Powder:
A white crystal or powder. Melting point 171-172ºC, boiling point 219-220ºC /1.3kPa, soluble in ethanol and water, slightly soluble in ethyl acetate, benzene, insoluble in ether, carbon tetrachloride, copper, aluminum corrosion, irritant.

Uses of Tris Base Powder

• Tris Base is primarily used as an intermediate in pharmaceuticals and as a biochemical reagent.
• It also serves as an intermediate for fosfomycin, and can be used as a vulcanization accelerator, in cosmetics (such as creams and lotions), mineral oil and paraffin emulsifiers, and as a biological buffering agent.
• In analytical chemistry, it is commonly used as a biological buffer and in acid-base titrations. Tris Base is typically synthesized through the reduction of the corresponding nitro compound or by catalytic hydrogenation.
