Formamide is an organic compound. Some properties of formamide are described below:

1. Physical Properties : Formamide is a colourless transparent liquid and appears as colourless crystals at room temperature. It has a pungent odour and is soluble in water, alcohols and ether solvents.

3. Stability: Formamide is a stable compound and does not decompose easily at room temperature. Under high temperature or strong alkali conditions, formamide will decompose to produce formamide salt or formic acid.
