• Polyisobutylenes (PIB) are non-drying synthetic hydrocarbon polymers produced by the polymerization of olefins.PIBs are used in a wide range of applications such as greases, molding lubricants, sealants, inks, paints, lacquers, plastics, agriculture, plastic wrap, hot melt adhesives, and liquid colorants for PSA adhesives.
• PIB can be used as a Group V base oil in synthetic lubricants or as an intermediate in the production of lubricant additives.

Applications of Polyisobutylene for Lubricant Additives
In lubricants, PIBs are often used as intermediates in the production of dispersants. They are also used as viscosity index improvers or anti-fogging agents in metalworking fluids. As a high-viscosity base oil, PIBs are used in gear oils, greases, marine oils, and two-stroke engine oils. Due to its solubility in mineral oils and clean burning without "blue smoke", PIB can be used as a replacement for brightening oils.
