Properties
Colourless transparent liquid, with an odour like chloroform. Almost insoluble in water (25 ℃, 0. llg / lOOg), soluble in ethanol, ether, miscible in most organic solvents. Can react violently with barium, nitrogen tetroxide, lithium, magnesium, liquid oxygen, ozone, potassium hydroxide, potassium nitrate, sodium, sodium hydroxide, titanium. Can cause combustion and explosion when exposed to open flame and high heat. In contact with strong oxidising agents, chemical reactions can occur.

Uses
Used as a solvent for degreasing metal surfaces, dry-cleaning clothes, extraction of vegetable and mineral oils, preparation of medicines, organic synthesis, and dissolution of grease, rubber, resins and alkaloids. It is widely used in the fields of degreasing, freezing, pesticides, spices, rubber industry, washing fabrics and so on.
