Application
- Phenoxyethanol can serve as a solvent for acrylic resin, cellulose acetate, ethyl cellulose, epoxy resin, and phenoxy resin.
- It is commonly used as a solvent and performance-enhancing agent in paints, printing inks, and ballpoint pen inks. It also functions as a penetrant and bactericide in detergents, as well as a film-forming aid in water-based coatings.
- As a dyeing solvent, it improves the solubility of PVC plasticizers and enhances properties that support the cleaning of printed circuit boards and the surface treatment of plastics. It is also an ideal solvent for methylparaben (methyl hydroxybenzoate).
- Phenoxyethanol is widely used as a preservative in the pharmaceutical and cosmetic industries. It is also used as an anesthetic and a fixative in perfumes, an extractant in the petroleum industry, and as a component in UV curing agents and carrier liquids for liquid chromatography.
